REACH is a flagship climate response initiative by Songjog Foundation, specifically designed to address the increasing climate vulnerabilities of Bangladesh's coastal belt. Implemented in the disaster-prone regions of Cox’s Bazar and Satkhira, REACH serves as a lifeline for communities on the front lines of global climate change.
The Challenge
Rising sea levels, frequent cyclonic storms, and high salinity intrusion increasingly threaten Bangladesh’s coastline. For the people of Cox’s Bazar and Satkhira, climate change isn't a future threat; it is a daily reality that destroys homes, contaminates drinking water, and wipes out livelihoods.
Our Vision
Project REACH moves beyond temporary relief. Our goal is to create "Resilient Hubs," empowered communities equipped with the infrastructure, knowledge, and resources to withstand environmental shocks and recover faster.
Key Strategic Pillars
Emergency Response & Readiness
Establishing localized response networks that can deploy immediate aid (food, medical supplies, and clean water) during and after cyclones
Climate-Resilient Infrastructure
Implementing sustainable water solutions, such as desalination plants or rainwater harvesting, to combat the acute salinity crisis in Satkhira.
Livelihood Adaptation
Providing vocational training and resources for "climate-smart" livelihoods, ensuring families aren't dependent on weather-sensitive traditional farming alone.
Community Capacity Building
Training local youth and volunteers in disaster management, first aid, and early warning systems to minimize loss of life.
