On 21 August 2026, Songjog Caregiver Center and Songjog Foundation BD organized a career orientation workshop titled “Caregiving: A Promising Profession and Career” at Colonel Taher Healthcare Center in Purbadhala, Netrokona. The event brought together 45 participants and four guests for a practical introduction to caregiving as a profession.

The workshop was designed for unemployed youth and graduates interested in exploring practical career options. It introduced participants to the role of professional caregivers, potential employment opportunities, essential workplace expectations, and available pathways to skills training.

Understanding career opportunities

SK Al Mukit Antor, Training Coordinator at Songjog Caregiver Center, led a session on professional caregiving and career development. He discussed the demand for skilled caregivers, opportunities to build a career in Bangladesh and internationally, and the importance of professional preparation.

The session also helped participants understand that caregiving requires practical ability, responsible conduct, communication skills, and a commitment to supporting people with dignity and respect.

Learning the basics of professional caregiving

Abdus Sobhan, Supervisor at Songjog Care Home, introduced participants to the practical aspects of caregiving work.

Topics covered during the workshop

  • Basic caregiving duties and responsibilities
  • Workplace requirements and professional conduct
  • Patient-care ethics
  • Personal grooming and hygiene
  • Communication and respectful support
  • Preparing for professional caregiver training
  • Possible career and employment pathways

These discussions gave participants a clearer picture of what caregiving work involves and the standards expected in a professional care environment.

Guidance from teachers and facilitators

Local teachers joined the event facilitators for an open question-and-answer session. Participants had an opportunity to ask about career preparation, caregiver training, workplace expectations, and the process for joining the General Caregiving Level-2 course.

The involvement of local educators helped connect the workshop with young people from different unions of Purbadhala Upazila. It also created space for participants to consider caregiving alongside other skills-based career options.

Continuing the conversation

The workshop concluded with information about professional training pathways and the General Caregiving Level-2 course. The organizing team plans to follow up with interested participants through direct communication and counselling.

The verified event outputs were 45 participants, four guests, and three main learning sessions. Enrollment, employment, and longer-term participant outcomes will be reported separately after documented follow-up.

Through activities such as this workshop, Songjog Caregiver Center aims to make practical career information more accessible and help young people make informed decisions about skills development and employment.
